Regulatory Specialist / Environmental Scientist / Biologist
Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California (Partially Remote)

This full-time, partially-remote position is open to experienced biologists or environmental scientists with a minimum of 3-5 years of regulatory permitting experience. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of California's ecological landscape and the environmental regulatory framework.

Key Qualifications & Requirements:

• At least three years of experience in regulatory permitting, including but not limited to:

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404, Rivers and Harbors Act (RHA) Section 10

  • California Water Quality Control Board - CWA Section 401, Porter-Cologne Act

  • California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) - Fish and Game Code Section 1602 Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreements

  • San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission

  • California Coastal Commission - Coastal Development Permitting

• Experience managing projects, including:

  • Leading teams and supervising staff

  • Budget development and oversight

  • Client communication and relationship management

  • Schedule management from initiation through completion

• Strong understanding of California biota, habitats, and ecological systems

• Must currently reside in, or have concrete plans to relocate to, the San Francisco Bay Area

• Must be located within commutable distance to San Francisco, CA

• Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to conduct field surveys as needed

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment

• Excellent technical writing, editing, and communication skills

Role Overview:

In this role, you will:

• Lead the preparation and submission of regulatory permit applications and supporting documentation

• Navigate and coordinate with various regulatory agencies to obtain project authorizations

• Support clients in achieving compliance with applicable state and federal environmental regulations

• Apply ecological knowledge to assess environmental impacts and deliver technical consulting services

• Contribute to the preparation of environmental documentation, including:

  • CEQA biological and water quality sections

  • Jurisdictional delineations and assessments

  • Biological and permit-related reports

Additional Responsibilities:

• Manage all phases of client projects: scoping, fieldwork, analysis, reporting, and agency coordination

• Participate in business development and marketing efforts, including:

  • Responding to potential client inquiries

  • Developing proposals and scopes of work

  • Preparing cost estimates and budgets
