Green Gables Inn is operated by Four Sisters Inns. The inn has 11 rooms and is situated directly across from the ocean in Pacific Grove. Green Gables Inn is a beautiful, Queen Anne-style Victorian mansion.

About the Position

Our overnight innkeeper is responsible for assisting guests after hours, from 9 pm until 5 am. This person must have reliable transportation to be able to attend to guests at either inn throughout the night.

The job requires setting up for breakfast at Green Gables, ensuring that common areas look picture perfect, and assisting guests with late check-ins or other urgent needs. The overnight innkeeper may sleep in a private room when the work has been completed and guests do not need assistance, waking to take calls from in-house guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include (But Are Not Limited To):

  • Provides exceptional service to guests
  • Greets late arrivals, check them in, and show them to their room
  • Answers phone calls and/or text messages from in-house guests
  • Sets up for breakfast service
  • Walks the property and ensure common areas and grounds are secure, neat, and orderly
  • Stays up-to-date on company safety protocols
  • Effectively communicates all guest activity and/or any issues to the incoming front desk team member via communication logs
  • Maintains a positive attitude and works well independently and as a member of a team

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • One-year certificate from college or equivalent training; or three to six months related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratios.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to apply common sense to various issues that arise on a regular basis.
