Position Summary:


We have an immediate opening for an experienced Supply Chain Manager with a proven track record successfully overseeing all phases of materials ordering and inventory management in a high-volume mechanical parts manufacturing and distribution setting.

This technical management position is responsible for the procurement of raw materials, purchased parts, fabricated parts, and hardware components, which are driven by the combined requirements generated by our MRP system, manual forecasting and as directed by operations management.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the manufacturing material and component purchasing process, including demand forecasting, vendor relations, purchase scheduling, logistics, inventory monitoring and quality control.
  • Ensure that all required production materials are effectively ordered and managed to arrive and be ready to process in advance of scheduled manufacturing.
  • Manage and negotiate with vendors to obtain the best possible purchasing conditions and all necessary product and service information such as price, availability, delivery schedule and alternatives in case of shortages, or scarcities.
  • Train, direct and manage purchasing admin, shipping and warehouse operations staff.
  • Co-manage warehouse/fulfillment operations, including inventory, order dispatching and shipping and receiving.
  • Expertly manage MRP through a combination of MRP software and intuitive forecasting.
  • Prepare purchase orders or bid requests, negotiate, source, and procure all material in accordance with production schedules and forecast demand.
  • Review purchase orders for completeness and accuracy, manage the ordering process through delivery inspection, reconciliation and stocking into bin locations.
  • Maintain all purchasing data in our ERP system and backup all data with hard copies of purchase orders.
  • Evaluate suppliers with executive management to determine their ability to conform to the requirements for quality, price, delivery, and service.
  • Review and periodically audit internal purchase requisitions for process and content accuracy.
  • Maintain constant vendor contact, monitor the status of all orders and resolve discrepancies regarding quantity, quality and delivery schedule.
  • Prepare and report KPIs for departmental improvement; prepare forecast data, analysis and reports to contribute to S&OP meetings.
  • Interface with internal departments and outside vendors to resolve all problems and issues with purchased material.
  • Prepare and present inventory, shipping efficiency and freight expense reports to enterprise Supply Chain management.
  • Participate and contribute to enterprise supply chain initiatives, through committee actions and local implementations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience purchasing metal stock, weldment components, hardware, fasteners, machined materials, third-party finished goods, machine tooling, manufacturing consumables.
  • Minimum 3 years of documented experience using MRP and performing forecasting for purchasing materials.
  • S&OP functional experience and/or formal training preferred.
  • Familiarity with automotive aftermarket suspension or complex mechanical products.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite software (specifically Excel, Word)
  • Experience utilizing a robust enterprise resource planning software (IQMS (Delmia), Epicor or SAP a plus).
