SCHEDULEMonday – Friday (40 hours) CONTRACT TERM 1 year long contract with high likelihood of extension or conversion to a full-time employee POSITION OVERVIEW – Relief EngineerRelief Engineering supports day-to-day routine PRD maintenance, support operations (ARPs), Mitigation projects support, Relief analysis to identify bottlenecks and help optimize throughput.RESPONSIBILITIES
- The base function of Relief Engineer is to support day-to-day routine PRD maintenance.
- Day-to-day engineering support for routine PRD maintenance is a significant part of relief engineering.
- The work scope includes supporting routine maintenance with coordinating PRDs servicing to meet required service interval due dates and updating databases accordingly.
- Troubleshooting and Identifying issues such as improper PRD design parameters, resizing PRDs, coordinating long lead-time parts to ensure the business unit stays compliant.
- Support Operations to minimize downtime by providing Alternative Relief Plan (ARP) and Relief analysis such as Relief/flare investigations. Coordination between Operations and PRD coordinators to support PRD service OTR repairs or PRD swaps.
- Mitigation Project support involves identifying, categorizing, and finding mitigation solutions in the appropriate time allowed by MFG-600. Often this requires working with 3rd party Engineering Procurement Companies (EPC) and PRD venders.
- Determination of selected mitigation options requires Operations coordination and approval.
- Piping and instrumentation must also be involved to ensure piping design and instrumentation availability meets the Client’s best practice and API code.
- Relief Engineering also analyses existing Relief limit for operating Units.
- The goal is to identify bottlenecks such as equipment limitations and relief deficiencies.
- Conduct analysis to determine feasibility of rate increase via Test Runs and support detailed engineering effort to permanently change unit throughput.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- 8-10 years of experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Relief Engineering Background is required, PRD sizing, Hydraulic calculations, Simulation, analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Team player and detail oriented.
- Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills are necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
- Advanced ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
- Familiar with MOC process.
- Experience with applications and software as follows: iPRSM, Pro/II, Promax, Hysys, ADIM, Digital Twin, OERI, KMS
