Job Summary: Develops and tests solutions to solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, sales, construction, inspection, and maintenance.
Job Duties:
- Assists engineers and scientists as they create, modify, and test products and processes.
- Performs extensive research and development during the creation phase of product. Inspects products and processes for flaws and identifies areas of improvement.
- conduct tests and collect data. Utilizes computer-aided design and drafting equipment during design phase.
Attributes:
- Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
- May act as a lead or first-level supervisor
- Typically reports to a department head or manager
Competency:
- Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 4 to 6 years of experience.
