Primary Objective of Chief Engineer Position
To provide our guests and team members with a secure, comfortable environment by managing ongoing preventative maintenance programs and ensuring that all-mechanical systems are operating in accordance with the standards of Bartell Hotels
Responsibilities
- Maintains hotel in accordance with maintenance schedule by assigning and supervising maintenance staff
- Schedules complete workweek coverage while remaining within budgeted guidelines
- Coordinates and prioritizes the distribution of repair-maintenance orders and planned-maintenance orders
- Checks and monitors the completed work in order to ensure it is completed
- Develops preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment in all departments such as laundry, kitchen, swimming pool etc.
- Completes preventative maintenance schedules for equipment in the building including chillers, cooling towers, air handling units and fans, pumps, automatic control systems etc.
- Ensures that equipment is operated effectively and efficiently by directing and supervising the operation of all running equipment
- Maintains routine reports by recording daily meter readings and interpreting daily log sheets
- Ensures that all the applicable requirements are being complied with by maintaining contact with local authorities such as fire brigade, electricity suppliers, and the Health Department
- Leads our Risk Management Program, becoming familiar with all policies and procedures and improving as needed
- Improves the effectiveness and efficiency of the operation of the department and/or hotel whenever possible
- Maintains safe working conditions within department and hotel, insuring that all employees follow safety rules and procedures
- Utilizes leadership skills and motivation techniques in order to maximize employee productivity and satisfaction of direct reports
- Keeps General Manager promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
