Job Description

Job DescriptionPay: $28-32/HR (with pay increase opportunity after successful 90-day evaluation)
Hours: Day Shift - 6am - 5:30pm / Night Shift - 4:30pm - 4:00pm
Project Term: 10 Weeks (possibility to join another project when this project completes)

Primary Purpose:
The Field Engineer must work independently and stay organized to manage assigned activities for the NHD DMM Project. This role provides technical support to the Project Engineer, Project Manager, department heads, and other staff as needed. Responsibilities include overseeing construction activities, material tracking, cement grout quality control, and preparing daily as-built records in AutoCAD. This is a field-based role involving tasks of controlled complexity, with work time split between the field and the field office. Full-time, night/day shift work is required. Remote work is not permitted. Some intercity travel may be necessary.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in project management, scheduling, or relevant technical skills are a plus.


Special Knowledge/Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Flexibility and adaptability to project needs.
  • Familiarity with office routines, documentation protocols, and administrative procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Competency in using survey equipment and verifying control points.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Technical acumen in process improvement, safety management, documentation, and CAD drafting/design.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.


Experience:

  • Preferred 1–2 years of related field experience.


Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Records, Reports, and Scheduling:

  1. Prepare correspondence, forms, daily reports, and presentations for the Project Manager.
  2. Oversee project documentation control and ensure proper recordkeeping.
  3. Respond to inquiries and prepare reports regarding project scope and scheduling.
  4. Update project records and coordinate daily with the Project Engineer.
  5. Support the Project Manager/Superintendent with grout quality control, AutoCAD as-built drawings, and daily construction reporting.
  6. Measure cement grout specific gravity and temperature in the batch plant as required.
  7. Prepare and submit comprehensive Project Data Books.


Other Duties:

  1. Coordinate tasks with Project Leads and other staff members.
  2. Participate in daily safety briefings and toolbox meetings.
  3. Attend site progress meetings to report field status.
  4. Maintain accurate and complete documentation for quality assurance.
  5. Assist with site safety documentation and compliance tracking.
  6. Support survey activities when needed.
  7. Ensure confidentiality of project information.
  8. Assist with daily project start-up and close-out activities.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer.


Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, personal computers, survey instruments, lab equipment.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent hand motions (keyboard, mouse); occasional reaching; regular site walks.
  • Lifting: Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Environment: Exposure to construction environments, including extreme temperatures, heavy machinery, and noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. Requires frequent project site inspections and may involve irregular working hours.
  • Vision: Close vision and color vision required (please disclose if color blind).
  • Mental Demands: Ability to handle frequent interruptions, multitask, and maintain emotional control under stress.
