Job Description

  • The Marine Electrician Technician will play a pivotal role in supporting field installation services on board US Navy ships. The primary responsibility is to install, terminate, and test fiber optic and copper cable assemblies that support various ship services such as power, communication, telephone, and alarm systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, tag, and band fiber optic and copper cables on various classes of surface and submarine Naval vessels.
  • Perform all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, waveguides, or fiber optic cable onboard Navy vessels.
  • Troubleshoot and test fiber and copper cables and circuits.
  • Possess the skills and abilities to perform the requirements of a shipboard or airframe electrician's trade with minimal supervision.
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, and design notices.
  • Use all tools of the trade, such as multi-meters, pin crimpers, and soldering equipment, to accomplish complex electrical installation tasks.
  • Perform cable installations, military circular connector installations, and power terminations.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Marine Electrician working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may substitute for part of the experience).
  • Certification with multi-pin copper connectors.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills and MS-Office programs, including Word and Excel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Former Navy experience as an Electronics Technician (ET), Information Systems Technician (IC), Aviation Maintenance (AT), or Electrician's Mate (EM) is ideal.
  • Experience with fiber optic installation, termination, and testing is preferred.

Work Environment

  • Work will be performed at various locations, including NBSD, NASNI (Coronado), CMSD, NASSCO, and BAE. The role requires flexibility, with potential for overtime, weekend work, and extended travel. Employees should be prepared to engage in physical tasks in a shipboard environment.

Job Type & Location

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of National City, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
