Principal of Civil Engineering
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal of Civil Engineering to help expand our reach in utility, private developer, and transportation projects in Northern California. This role focuses on new business generation and supporting current utility contracts. A strong portfolio is highly desired.
Our ideal candidate will be a SME in grading, drainage, paving, earth stabilization and retention, hydrology and hydraulics, waste repositories, site development, and civil aspects of underground utilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a practice and serve as the practice lead for a civil engineering design business line focused on site planning, land development, and general earthwork.
- Define the breadth of services to be offered and short- and long-term strategies for building out the business line.
- Work with the Business Development Team to develop client and project pursuit strategies.
- Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D for the design and drafting of engineering plans.
- Ensure projects comply with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Perform grading and utility design while considering infrastructure planning requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on site development and roadway design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
- Strong understanding of land development processes and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in project management and construction management is a plus.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage teams and client relationships.
- Knowledge of utility design and grading practices is highly desirable.
- Strong portfolio or existing client base is strongly preferred.
