Controller / Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Hawthorne, CA 90250
Reports To: President / CEO
Industry: Aerospace Manufacturing / Precision Machining
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Controller / Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on financial leader with solid experience in aerospace machine shop/manufacturing operations. This role will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions. The candidate will be a problem solver with the ability to make data-driven decisions, be adaptable and comfortable in a small business, exhibit outstanding communication skills, and ideally, have experience with a private equity owner.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Leadership
· Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and ownership team in driving execution, shipments, and provide insightful analysis and recommendations to make informed business and operational decisions.
· Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with company objectives.
Job Roles
· Oversee all accounting functions including AP/AR, GL, payroll, tax, and month-end/year-end close.
· Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
· Support external CPA firm with Review/Audits
· Lead cost accounting efforts including job costing, variance analysis, and standard cost development.
· Monitor and analyze production costs, labor efficiency, scrap, and overhead allocations.
· Prepare annual budgets, CAPEX expenditures, monthly forecasts; track performance against KPIs.
· Work with CEO to ensure compliance with aerospace/defense industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO9001, ITAR/EAR, DCAA).
· Maintain internal controls/safeguards.
· Oversee insurance, contracts, benefits.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Highly relevant experience can offset any formal degree.
· 5+ years of progressive financial experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
· Prior experience in a precision machine shop and/or aerospace manufacturing environment.
· In-depth knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and job costing.
· Familiarity with aerospace compliance standards (AS9100, ITAR, DCAA, DFARS, etc.).
· Strong proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., JobBOSS, Pro Shop).
· Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
· Competitive base salary + performance-based bonus. Salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, salaried, full-time exempt.
