About this Opportunity:

Responsible for developing and implementing quality procedures, instructions and analysis of quality records. Also responsible for continuous improvement projects as assigned. Mentor and lead other quality engineers in fulfilling their duties in an efficient and effective manner.



Responsibilities:

  • Applies professional training and experience to lead APQP teams and the development of process control plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA’s), Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies, capability studies and other quality related tasks needed to comply with customer PPAP and internal requirements.
  • Uses independent judgment to develop inspection methods and gauging designs for new products.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities such as idea/white board meetings.
  • Identify characteristics of new and revised products that are likely to create issues with PPAP approval and/or ongoing operations. Communicate these issues effectively and propose design-around quality solutions where possible.
  • Analyze and optimize the impact of new and revised quality plans on inspection resources and productivity.
  • Set up ongoing SPC per customer and internal requirements, coach others on its use and provide ongoing support when questions or problems arise. Exercise leadership with implementing practical SPC solutions that consider tooling and process limits as well as customer desires.
  • Review quality records, methods and ideas from coworkers to reduce inspection time without affecting part quality. Use data to recommend and implement scrap and rework reduction projects.
  • Assist others with problem solving techniques particularly as it relates to implementation of SPC and its effect on tooling maintenance. Applying scientific thinking in problem solving methodology.
  • Manage quality related projects according to documented procedures to ensure project scope, product requirements are met. Project management will include prompt and concise reporting of details including target conditions, actions and next steps with due dates.
  • Customer contact for inspection and qualification requirements issues.
  • Responsible for leading discussions and resolutions concerning supplier quality issues and required corrective actions.
  • Assist in meeting department goals and participate in strategic planning through the Policy Deployment process.
  • Mentor Quality Engineers.
  • Stay abreast of technologies that can improve inspection capability or productivity, recommend for purchase, plan and implement new equipment.
  • Lead the quality engineering activities needed to ensure compliance with quality system certifications.
  • Collaborate with coworkers in continuous Improvement activities and the idea system.
  • Maintains an organized, clean and safe work environment and follows 6S standards
  • Properly follows all H & M procedures and policies.
  • Uses correct P.P.E. per JHA’s and job description.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or Associate’s degree (A.S.)
  • 10+ years of related experience and/or training.
  • Gauging, Methods/Design, Geometric Tolerance experience
  • Use and calibration of measuring equipment
