Job Description

As a Barron’s Top 100 RIA firm and voted Best Places to Work by Fortune, Pacific Coast Business Times, Inc. (Best Workplaces), and Investment News, Mission Wealth is hiring a growth-minded Platform Engineer to join our award-winning team! If you are ready to elevate your career in a leading wealth management company with a commitment to giving back to the community and expanding nationally, let’s go!

As a Platform Engineer, you will build and operate the production data and integration platforms that power our advisors, operations teams, and client-facing systems. You will own the reliability, security, and scalability of core workflows across platforms such as Salesforce, Snowflake, Tamarac, and supporting automation services.

This is a hands-on builder-operator role focused on turning messy, real-world business needs into durable, well-run systems. You will design and maintain data pipelines, integrations, and automation; respond to incidents; improve observability and operational hygiene; and continuously reduce manual work through standardization and tooling.

Partnering closely with Product, Data, Operations, and M&A stakeholders, you will scope ambiguous requests into deliverable platform capabilities – moving from pilots to production while managing dependencies with vendors and system integrators. As the platform matures, you will help professionalize operations by establishing runbooks, SLAs, and on-call practices, laying the foundation for a small internal platform operations function that can scale with the firm.

Day-to-Day as a Platform Engineer

  • Build and maintain Mission Wealth’s core technical infrastructure across core platforms such as Salesforce, Snowflake, and Tamarac, ensuring data moves reliably end-to-end.
  • Build, harden, and operate Python-based ETL/automation pipelines (including batch jobs on Azure VMs) with strong logging, error handling, and retries.
  • Maintain “production hygiene”: monitoring/alerting, incident response, root-cause analysis, and improvements that reduce repeat issues.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, SLAs, and operational playbooks; participate in an on-call rotation as the platform matures.
  • Design and evolve warehouse structures (Snowflake preferred) and write transformation-oriented SQL to support analytics, reconciliation, and downstream workflows.
  • Build automation that improves advisor onboarding and M&A onboarding, reducing manual cleanup by normalizing and mapping CRM/account/portfolio data.
  • Implement workflows that extract structured data from unstructured sources (documents, statements, tax returns, emails, meeting summaries) in a controlled, auditable way.
  • Partner with Product, Data, and M&I leaders to scope ambiguous requests into deliverable work (pilots to rollout), and manage dependencies with vendors/SIs as needed.
  • Contribute to production GenAI flows that assist advisors and internal teams, with attention to PII handling and safety guardrails.

What You Bring as a Platform Engineer

  • A builder/operator mindset: you ship working solutions and keep them healthy with documentation, monitoring, and disciplined operations.
  • Strong integration instincts; able to troubleshoot data issues across APIs/files/SFTP and multiple vendor systems without guesswork.
  • Comfort translating business needs into concrete technical workflows (data requirements, mappings, pipeline impacts, rollout steps).
  • A bias toward repeatable systems over one-off scripts; you standardize, version, and document so others can run the playbook.
  • Sound judgment around security and privacy, especially when working with client data and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Clear communication: you can explain tradeoffs and status to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of practical in platform engineering with experience building and operating production integrations/data pipelines
  • Hands-on Salesforce experience in production, including integrations and light admin/development.
  • Strong Python experience for ETL/automation; familiarity running scheduled batch jobs on Azure VMs (or similar) with operational hardening (logging, error handling).
  • Strong SQL skills for validation, reconciliation, and lightweight data modeling; experience with a cloud warehouse (Snowflake preferred).
  • Demonstrated operational discipline: runbooks, monitoring/alerting, SLAs, and willingness to participate in on-call.
  • Practical exposure to GenAI/LLM integrations or assistant pilots, including the ability to reason about PII/safety.
  • Experience integrating and normalizing heterogeneous datasets (CRM/account/portfolio) to reduce manual cleanup (especially in onboarding or M&A contexts).
  • Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau/Power BI/Looker) and/or lightweight internal tools (e.g., Streamlit).
  • Experience coordinating with integration partners / SIs and managing vendor deliverables.
  • Nice to have: Custodial integration patterns (Tamarac, Schwab/Wealthscape, Fidelity) using SFTP/API ingestion.
