Gideon Hausner seeks a dynamic, committed, and creative individual to serve as an Upper School Assistant Teacher. This position will focus on supporting 5th and 6th grade humanities in collaboration with an experienced lead teacher but will also offer flexible support across other Upper School classrooms and settings as needed.
The successful candidate will assist with instruction, classroom management, student support, and grading. This includes working 1:1 or in small groups with students, helping maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, providing feedback on student work, and stepping in to support across disciplines or grades when necessary.

Responsibilities
- Support instruction in humanities classes through individual and small-group work. Provide general support across the Upper School as assigned
- Assist with grading and providing feedback on student assignments
- Help manage student behavior and classroom routines
Collaborate with faculty across disciplines and grade levels to provide targeted student support - Attend and participate in faculty meetings, training sessions, and team planning
- Assist with classroom materials, organization, and preparation
Participate in key school events (e.g., Back to School Night, student performances, etc.) - Help with other duties or projects as assigned
Requirements:
Required Education/Experience
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working with middle school students
- Ability to manage small group dynamics and support a variety of learners
- Prior classroom or tutoring experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Compensation
- $48,000 - $49,000 annually
