Summary: The Cutting Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the cutting department to ensure efficient workflow, high-quality output, and strict adherence to safety protocols. This role provides direct supervision, task assignments, and hands-on guidance to the cutting team, ensuring that production goals and deadlines are consistently achieved.Extensive experience with print industry cutting equipment, particularly Polar cutting systems, and the ability to troubleshoot, operate, and train others on their use is required. The supervisor will also play an essential role in supporting Plant Management with production scheduling, workflow optimization, and process improvement initiatives that drive productivity and quality.
Schedule: 1st shift, Monday-Friday, eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs. Primary schedule will be 5:00 AM – 1:30 AM, or similar. This is an in-person position. Training may occur at other times.
Salary Range: $25.00 - $29.00 hourly
Compensation commensurate with experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Provide instructions, work assignments, and directly supervise all cutting team to ensure all required tasks/jobs are completed; advise of any pertinent deadlines.
- Support and assist Plant Management with planning and production schedule.
- Provide support and assistance to cutting team to ensure team is working on proper and relevant priorities.
- Motivate, align/re-align team members to new or different workstations to keep productivity at a safe and consistent level.
- Assist Plant Management in analyzing production workflow, bindery production methods, and processes to continuously advance productivity and quality.
- Ensure that new and present employees are trained on bindery process, equipment, and methods to achieve the company’s quality, quantity, customer satisfaction, timely needs, and safety standards.
- Maintain technical competence and that of their team.
- Perform quality sample checks.
- Assist Plant Management in promoting a dynamic and accountable safety culture and ensure team members work safely.
- Report any/all incidents, accidents, or near misses to Plant Management.
- Ensure employees are cognizant and comply with all company policies/procedures and report any violations to Plant Management.
- Accumulate and report productivity statistics to Plant Management.
- Ensure employees are appropriately equipped, have the required materials on hand, organized and replenished.
- Ensure all equipment, tools, and workstation are in good working order and is free of safety hazards.
- Complete and process all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
- Regularly perform general housekeeping duties in your work area(s)
- Adhere to all safety policies and protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist in cultivating an interdependent safety culture by reporting workplace hazards, related injuries, illnesses, and or/near misses to management immediately.
- Attend all department/company meetings.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES:
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years previous experience operating print industry cutting equipment such as Polars
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of progressive experience in floor supervision with good supervisory and team leading skills
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience scheduling production with ability to hone and fine tune production schedules
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency

- Leadership: This position demands a proactive, detail-oriented leader with excellent problem-solving abilities, a strong background in print production environments, and the communication skills necessary to maintain team alignment, meet deadlines, and support continuous improvement.
- Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Strong problem-solving skills when faced with unexpected challenges, such as machine malfunctions, material shortages, or errors in print quality. Ability to adapt to new printing technologies or changes in production schedules, ensuring smooth operations despite changes.
- Time Management & Efficiency: Ability to manage multiple print jobs simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without sacrificing quality. Organizing workflows, preparing materials in advance, and optimizing print runs for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in monitoring print jobs to ensure all details, such as color accuracy, image sharpness, and print placement, meet the required standards. Detecting small defects or inconsistencies during production and taking corrective action immediately.
- Communication Skills: Ability to read and understand corporate policies, job-related documents, and written/verbal instructions in English to ensure effective and compliant job performance.
- Strong foundational math skills, with the ability to perform basic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and efficient in managing time, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks accurately.
