Job Description:\n\nDescription: SUMMARY: The Terra-Gen Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Storage (BESS) Plant Supervisor is for an additional plant(s) in the Edwards / Sanborn portfolio. It is a supervisory position that leads and monitors the operational and maintenance functions for the PV and BESS Facilities near Mojave CA and other designated plants as needed. It is a position supervising employees, OEM and vendors who perform tasks fulfilling duties specified in an executed O&M service agreement between Terra-Gen Operating Company, as the O&M Service Provider, and possibly several entities including Terra-Gen LLC. as the owner. The Plant Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the facilities are available to produce optimally and within all safety and regulatory compliance while fostering a positive, supportive, collaborative and safe culture. This position will be responsible for assisting with developing and implementing plant policies and procedures as well as professional development of employees. The Plant Supervisor will also be responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of the power plant(s) and all associated equipment in accordance with procedures, regulatory guidelines, and operating directives in effect. They will also provide appropriate direction, guidance, training, and supervision of assigned personnel in the accomplishment of company goals and directives. Oversee all facets of operations and maintenance associated with equipment performance for their area of responsibility. Responsible for the material condition of each component and ensures that each functions correctly and reliably through programs of equipment inspection, repair, and system testing/troubleshooting. Coordinates with upper management and department managers, including OEMs, to maintain peak performance of the power plant while maintaining all warranties. Ensures all documentation is completed to provide historical analysis along with regulatory compliance of all maintenance and repairs. The Plant Supervisor reports to the Plant Manager. The main office located in the vicinity of Mojave, California. Some travel will be required for this position. On-call rotation will be required for this position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed):Adheres to, supports, and complies with all company safety and environmental policies and practices. Ensures all employees, contractors and visitors conduct themselves safely and within departmental / company policies and regulatory guidelines. Stops work and reports any violations. Assures a proper working environment by maintaining discipline, morale, and employee relations. Assist with technician scheduling to include overtime. Review and approve assigned personnel timecards.Assist with team-building and professional development of team members.Conduct or supervise training, as required.Develop, administer and promote compliance with written procedures for plant operations and maintenance.Ensure the administration and completion of company policies/procedures to all assigned employees.Using the Terra-Gen work management system (CMMS), ensure work is planned and scheduled to meet warranty and service contract commitments/requirements.Review metrics, provide suggestive improvements and ensure improvements are implemented regarding plant performance, work progress, and work backlog.Perform Scheduling, performance monitoring, vegetation management, module cleaning, etc.Conduct professional contact with key personnel in the form of phone calls, meetings and reporting to the department Managers including the customer regarding plant performance and plans of action.Assist in the selection of contractors/vendors, professionally manage contractors/vendors for Terra-Gen operations, assist in contractual spare parts management, and manage operation and maintenance technicians, as needed, to fulfill O&M service agreement obligations.Responsible for the performance of all contractors as required by the O&M service agreement.Assist with managing and tracking warranty claims and understand installation warranty and equipment warranty responsibilities. Ensures operation and maintenance activities are performed to maintain warranty agreements.Schedule and manage additional services, as needed, based on the available monitoring data. Ensure acceptable quality of services executed.Completes all required site inspections.Assist EHS with the implementation of an OSHA-compliant safety program and culture at the plants.Assist in regulatory compliance:NERC ComplianceCPUC GO 167-C ComplianceConditional Use Permit ComplianceAir Permit ComplianceParticipate in development, promotion and administration of the Continuous Improvement Program (CIP).Manage and assist in Root Cause Analysis to ensure continuous improvement.Manages the everyday plant activities of the operating assets in compliance with established company and regulatory standards.Oversee O&M Provider(s). Manage OEM operating and repair/troubleshooting efforts to ensure compliance with service agreements and compliance with established standardsAssist, as need, and ensure timely reporting of data for energy regulatory agencies including PUCs, FERC, CEC, and EIA.Timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.Assist with reports for lenders along with local, state, and federal regulatory organizations according to the agreements and contracts.Maintain a database tracking: operation, contract administration, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting, as required.Assist with the development and manage an annual budget for the responsible project(s).Responsible for the financial and operational performance of assigned plants.Analyze and optimize the financial performance of operating plants on a regular basis.Analyze production data and optimize performance of operating plants regularly.Propose solutions for improving performance based on positive cost/benefit analysis.Responsible for immediate support and ensures corrective actions in response to emergency situations to minimize safety hazards and to reduce damage or downtime to the plant and its equipment. Calls employees to emergency duty upon assessing plant conditions and determining the necessity for additional support.Understands and follows proper procedures for control and shipment of all hazardous waste streams.Oversees / directs all instrumentation/electrical/DCS preventative and corrective maintenance, including equipment overhauls and system modifications.Coordinates with company personnel, outside consultants, and vendors to plan outages, ensure proper staffing, correct maintenance problems, startup new equipment.Provides technical guidance and direction to assigned personnel during the completion of repairs, troubleshooting, and overhauls. Ability to review, understand and approves crane lift plans.Documents equipment problems, writes work orders (as needed), work instructions, and maintenance repair requests.Trains to improve personal skills and the skills of co-workers related to the job and/or required advancement.Responsible for the completion of special tasks and projects assigned by the Plant Manager. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages site employees as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Minimum requirements:Strong technical and supervisory skills.Strong working knowledge of electrical safety and NFPA 70E requirements.Proven ability to successfully procure, monitor, and assess subcontracted functions such as electrical contractors.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization, as well as outside customers and vendors.Ability to work with minimal or no supervision with a customer service focus.Ability to work in high-pressure situations.Organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively and handle multiple deadlines.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong knowledge and use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Current driver’s license with clean driving history. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE:At Least 3 Years Experience as Supervisor in large utility power plant with increasing levels of responsibility. Experience of contract and budget management.Knowledge in the Construction, Installations, Operations, and Maintenance in Oil, Gas, Chemical, Power Generation, or Other Related Industrial Processes.Possess experience in Project Management, Project Controls, Safety, and Quality Management.Experienced in People and Organizational Development and Management.Experienced in Project Control, Budgeting, and Cost management.Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, single line diagrams (SLD).Training and experience with Incident Command System (ICS) strongly preferred. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Provide information and training.Customer service skills are essential for this role.Create written reports/memos/emails to communicate findings internally and externally.Professionally communicate with customers about their system operation and performance, as needed.Professionally communicate with vendors about the performance of their products.Professionally communicate with Quality/Product Development/Purchasing departments about the field and remote data findings.Professionally communicate with Plant Manager and/or technicians.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions; procedure manuals; prints and engineering data; interpret charts, graphs, and gauge scales; troubleshoot equipment and system problems; and interface with others. Have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, use a radio, and be able to speak effectively before groups of people. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to analyze operating data and identify anomalies.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, lengths, and electrical values.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and statistical analysis.Have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY & DECISION-MAKING SKILLS:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, architectural or electrical drawing, or schedule form.Ability to analyze and respond to organizational and personnel issues as they relate to the Utility Power Plant Group. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid California Driver's License PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Overtime is required as needed. WORK ENVIRONMENT: At least 50% of the Plant Supervisor’s work will be performed in an office work environment; however, the environment for field inspections exposes the person to the risk of electric shock, heights, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals. Additionally, while working outdoors, the employee is exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, and ultraviolet radiation from the sun. The noise levels may require hearing protection. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud on occasion can be very loud. The posted compensation is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This salary range may also be modified in the future, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
