Position Overview
The Design/Build Preconstruction Manager is responsible for overseeing the preconstruction phase of projects, ensuring that design and construction efforts align with client objectives and project goals. The role involves collaborating with architects, engineers, and contractors to develop comprehensive project plans, budgets, and schedules while managing risks and conflicts effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preconstruction planning process for design/build projects.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to finalize project designs that meet client specifications.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
- Identify potential risks and conflicts during the planning phase and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Manage communication between various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultants.
- Oversee the preparation of project schedules and timelines to ensure timely completion.
- Conduct value engineering assessments to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
- Review and approve submittals and shop drawings during preconstruction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in preconstruction management or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, design principles, and relevant codes.
- Proven conflict management skills and experience in resolving design and construction issues.
- Experience with HVAC systems and construction design.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
