POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician is capable of performing the following duties: Prepare, count, label, package and dispense pharmaceuticals for Pharmacist approval. Inventory and restock emergency boxes. Receives, enters, processes, and maintains orders in the computer system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Courteously assists all customers. Assists in answering telephones and provides excellent customer service on the telephone.
- Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients.
- Identify and assess customers needs
- Assist in resolving patient concerns and complaints.
- Determine correct resolution to patient complaints, take corrective action, and monitor results.
- Communicate with physicians for refill approvals when necessary.
- Work with doctors offices to collect and review patient information and other relevant information to ensure accurate admissions and re-admissions.
- Resolve Patient coverage issues - including verifying insurance, benefits investigation, and Prior Authorizations.
- Ensure proper billing to insurance companies and other third-party payers
- Monitoring incoming order queue and input same into the computer in a timely manner.
- Input all patient pertinent information into the computer system checking entries for accuracy.
- Input medication orders (new or refill) into computer.
- Calculates and/or verifies the correct dosage based on the prescription.
- Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients.
- Maintain strict attention to detail in prescription filling duties.
- Fill, label, and package medications following pharmacy procedures.
- Maintain strict attention to detail in prescription filling duties.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory level.
- Minimize Fill on Arrivals (FOA) orders.
- Restocking inventory.
- Monthly check expiration dates of medications.
- Manage expired, recalled and returned medications.
- Replenish supplies daily.
- Monitor and record temperatures as dictated by policy and procedures.
- Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA.
- Participate with corporate scheduled physical inventories.
- Follow predetermined company policies and procedures regarding controlled substances; ensures compliance with state federal and other regulatory agencies; requirements and laws.
- Supports compliance with all appropriate policies procedures safety rules and DEA regulations.
- Follow Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) requirements.
- Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
- Participate in the pharmacys Performance Improvement program as requested.

New hire training will take place in Glendale, CA before moving to the home office of West Covina, CA.
