SUMMARY
Constructs, repairs, and maintains wooden structures such as furniture, equipment, partitions, and other parts of hospital building using hand and power tools as assigned. Assists with general maintenance activities as directed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
- Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety.
- Ensures that safety procedures are observed.
- Constructs and maintains building woodwork such as bins, counters, benches, stairs and doors.
- Repairs articles of furniture such as cabinets, chairs, storage fixtures and office equipment. Repairs loose or broken joints.
- Replaces damaged veneer.
- Cuts and shapes parts of furniture.
- Works from blueprints and drawings in constructing and repairing woodwork.
- Repairs or replaces windows, doors, ceiling and floor tile plus various wooden wall coverings.
- Operates woodworking machines such as band saw, mortiser, drill press, powersaw, joiner, shaper, and wood lathe.
- Requisitions lumber, hardware, and other supplies and equipment; maintains inventory of carpentry tools and equipment.
- Builds, repairs, and installs as directed within the capabilities of the trade.
- Maintains all required records and information pertinent to costing out work assignments.
- Keeps work areas orderly, clean and safe. Ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.
- Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years previous related experience
