An established flooring company in Orange is looking for an experienced Lumber Handler/Puller to join their team. The company specializes in installing and repairing hardwood floors. The ideal candidate will need to know or be willing to learn NHLA lumber grading rules. This position is a temp to hire position with a pay of $20 to $30 per hour, based on experience. The hours are 5AM to 1:30PM Monday through Friday with possible overtime.
Job Responsibilities
- Select and pull lumber orders according to customer specifications and order tickets
- Receive containers of lumber and sort and check in the material.
- Inspect lumber for quality, grade, and defects.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Load and unload delivery trucks with lumber products.
- Organize and maintain inventory in the lumber yard or warehouse
- Ensure all pulled orders are accurate and complete before shipment
- Communicate effectively with warehouse supervisors, drivers, and team members
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as needed
- Report any damaged or defective materials to management
Requirements:
- Forklift experience
- Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 75 pounds)
- Basic math skills for counting and measuring lumber accurately
- Attention to detail to ensure order accuracy
- Ability to read and interpret order tickets and product specifications
- Good communication skills and team-oriented attitude
- Reliable and punctual with strong work ethic
