Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support elementary school students in Los Angeles, CA. This position involves providing specialized instruction and services to young learners with visual impairments, ensuring they receive an accessible and equitable education throughout the school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments.
- Provide direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and related service providers to support student success.
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Participate in school meetings and professional development activities related to visual impairment education.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Experience working with elementary-aged children who have visual impairments.
- Strong knowledge of braille instruction, assistive technology, and specialized teaching strategies.
- Excellent munication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work within a team and maintain detailed records.
