Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU position in an acute care setting requiring CA licensure and ICU/ER experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in an 8-bed ICU within an acute care hospital
- Float between ICU, ER, MedSurg, and sister facilities as needed
- Primarily medical ICU patients with 1:1-2 nurse to patient ratios
- Use and management of vents, EKG monitoring, and bedside reporting
- Cerner EMR is used in this facility
- Schedule consists of 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend required
- Report is conducted at the bedside during shift changes
- Required to float first, with occasional mid-shift floating possible
- Hospitalist or Intensivist present in-house; RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
- One to two days of unit-specific orientation provided with a preceptor
- Provide critical care nursing for medical ICU patients including ventilator and EKG management
- May be scheduled to float to other departments or nearby facilities based on patient care needs
- Team includes charge nurses for support and nurse aides as staffing permits
- Self-scheduling is available, with manager approval to finalize schedules
- Rotation into holidays is required alongside core staff
- Dress code is navy scrubs, with navy, white, or black undershirts and optional navy scrub jackets
- Pre-employment online modules must be completed prior to start
- First day orientation includes pass/fail sterile technique testing for Foley and central line care
- Block scheduling is generally not available
- Located adjacent to PACU and designed with a horseshoe layout
\n \n Requirements\n
- Active CA RN license is required at the time of consideration
- Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS, and PALS (AHA)
- Minimum of 2 years ICU nursing experience
- Experience in both ICU and ER settings required
- Ability to interpret EKG strips and manage ventilated patients
- Successful completion of the Relias Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam required prior to acceptance, valid within 12 months if previously completed
- Two supervisory references: one from within the last 12 months and one (supervisor or peer) from within the last 3 years
- Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
- Must not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year
