Job Description
Job DescriptionEmbark on a dynamic journey as a Surgical Tech in Mammoth Lakes, California, where precision, teamwork, and patient-centered care drive every procedure. In this setting, you’ll partner with surgeons, scrub nurses, and perioperative staff to prepare, scrub, and steward sterile environments for a wide range of operations, delivering the highest standards of safety and efficiency. Your skill set will directly impact patient outcomes, from meticulous instrument handling to rapid turnover between cases. This role offers a clear path to deep clinical expertise within the surgical suite while you enjoy the unique charm of the Golden State—from alpine adventures in the Sierra to serene mornings by the lakes, all complemented by a supportive workplace culture that puts people first.
Mammoth Lakes sits in the stunning Eastern Sierra, a year‑round destination known for epic outdoor recreation, tight‑knit community spirit, and work‑life balance that respects your well‑being. Here you’ll experience brisk mountain air, access to hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and scenic escapes after shifts. If you’re drawn to variety, our travel program also provides opportunities to work at different facilities across the U.S., expanding your clinical horizons while maintaining dependable pay, housing support, and a strong network of travel professionals dedicated to your success. Whether you stay in Mammoth or explore other locations, you’ll benefit from structured assignments, clear expectations, and a community‑driven approach to frontline surgical care.
As a Surgical Tech, you’ll be an integral member of the operating room team. Key responsibilities include preparing the OR by setting up sterile fields, instrument reels, implants, and supplies; maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures; scrubbing and passing instruments to surgeons; handling suction, retraction, and sponging as needed; performing intraoperative counts to ensure instrument and sponge safety; assisting with patient positioning and draping; supporting anesthesia with equipment setup and monitoring readiness; assisting with specimen labeling and documentation; ensuring safe patient transfer and efficient OR turnover; and communicating clearly with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia teams to anticipate needs and uphold the highest levels of patient safety. This role is designed for growth: you’ll gain broad exposure to diverse surgical specialties, with opportunities to cross‑train, expand your skill set, and progress toward leadership responsibilities as you demonstrate reliability, initiative, and a commitment to quality improvement. The package includes a competitive compensation range, a sign‑on bonus, and housing assistance to ease relocation logistics. You’ll have guaranteed hours—36 per week—plus the potential for contract extensions based on facility needs and your performance. A standout feature is the company’s 24/7 support network for traveling professionals, ensuring you’re never alone when navigating new facilities, shifts, or clinical challenges.
We are devoted to empowering surgical teams with career‑focused development and a supportive, collaborative work environment. Our culture centers on respect, open communication, and mentorship, helping clinicians of all levels advance toward their long‑term goals. We believe in recognizing hard work, providing reliable resources, and partnering with you to design a trajectory that aligns with your skills and ambitions. In this community, your expertise is valued, your wellbeing is prioritized, and your professional growth is a shared mission.
