Metis is seeking a Project Specialist for Smart Mobility to support our NASA Aeronautics Research Technology and Simulation (ARTS) contract with the NASA Ames Aeronautics Directorate. The purpose of ARTS contract is to provide mission critical support for researchers with high-fidelity environments to conduct simulated flight, Air Traffic Management (ATM) research, and advance the state-of-the-art simulation technology. Researchers leverage the ARTS contract to investigate a variety of topics ranging from the design of new aircraft guidance and control systems to the human factors implications of new or existing flight deck displays, airspace operations, air traffic control and automation.

Position Description:

Provide support for the development and execution of long-term flight operations, enabling the Aeronautics Projects Office to achieve its strategic goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and collaborate with NASA stakeholders, international/national agencies, and commercial partners to enable NASA Ames Research Center move forward with strategic engagements supporting flight operations.
  • Manage NASA Research and Technology Program and Project Management Requirements via milestones in accordance with NASA Procedural Requirement (NPR) 7120.8A

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in managing mid-to large scale projects and flight operations
  • Experienced Program and/or Project Manager

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated increasing level of organizational leadership experience and responsibilities over time in the areas of aviation operations, training, safety, logistics and maintenance, and development of future mission capabilities through technology integration
    • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic approaches for complex problems
    • Proven interpersonal communication skills and ability to mentor and collaborate a team of domain and technical experts
    • Experience providing technical expertise in research/test environment

Estimated Salary: $150,000-$165,000
