NSC Staffing is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector I to support ship repair operations by conducting in?process and final inspections, ensuring work meets technical, safety, and quality standards. This role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance in a demanding shipyard environment.
Position Overview:
As a Quality Assurance Inspector I, you will perform testing and inspections throughout the repair process to ensure reliability and compliance with all specifications. You will schedule, observe, document, and submit inspection results, while maintaining strict focus on safety, situational awareness, and technical accuracy. This position plays a key role in ensuring all repairs meet government, customer, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in?process and final inspections to verify adherence to technical requirements and work specifications.
- Provide technical assistance to production teams, customers, and vendors regarding quality standards and requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work specifications, and equipment technical manuals.
- Perform and document work certification inspections for government, prime contractor, subcontractor, and trade representatives.
- Understand and apply NAVSEA Standard Items, applicable drawings, and technical publications.
- Generate detailed inspection reports, including TIRs, TIPs, CFRs, IDRs, Test Memorandums, and Work Specifications.
- Maintain strict safety practices and situational awareness during all operational checkpoints.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, even in high?pressure situations.
- Identify conflicts in requirements and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform internal and external QA audits and surveillances.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned to support quality operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 1-2 years of ship repair or shipyard experience with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of ship repair technical specifications, industry standards, and repair of complex/critical systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate inspections with ship personnel, contractors, vendors, and employees.
- Skilled in using technical measuring and diagnostic equipment; able to confirm use of calibrated tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to obtain or complete CPR certification.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Schedule:
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift: 1st Shift
- Overtime: Available upon approval

This role involves working in a shipyard environment with exposure to production activities, requiring strong attention to detail, physical awareness, and the ability to work safely in challenging conditions.
