Job Description
The Lead Facilities Technician, under the supervision and direction of the Assistant Facilities & Operations Manager, is responsible for a wide range of facilities services tasks, including but not limited to, non-technical maintenance of plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, and/or air conditioning facilities and equipment, at a level not requiring formal licensure. May be required to perform tasks of other unlicensed trades, such as a light equipment operator, carpenter, painter, landscaper, and/or locksmith. The efforts of Facilities Technician 2 ensure that WCPA is operationally compliant and efficient in all aspects described. Additionally, this individual is responsible for ensuring that this happens in such a way that it enables the rest of the school to focus almost exclusively on student achievement and culture.
Essential Job Functions:
- In partnership with the Assistant Facilities & Operations Manager, performs ongoing preventative maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems
- Assist licensed technicians with maintenance of all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, building management systems, and building repairs
- Ensure the efficient and prompt handling of all department work orders and requests.
- Controls and maintains inventories for assigned tools, supplies, and materials. Assists in implementing departmental policies and procedures.
- Conducting consistent inspections and ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of all areas of campus
- Review and understand equipment and methods of operation, fire/life safety, and other systems
- May assist in maintaining water treatment and storage system
- May perform general maintenance, custodial, landscaping, and trash removal tasks
- May repair kitchen equipment
- Comply with all safety procedures and requirements.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
- Maintain compliance with City, County, and State ordinances and codes
- Support any after-hours building needs and activities as required
- Attend training sessions and seminars
- Other assigned tasks as requested
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and Certifications
- 4 years of related experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Incident IQ
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Maintain detailed and accurate reports such as inventory, purchase records, etc.
- Establish and maintain a good working relationship with WCPA personnel, contractors, and other partners.
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license
- Electrical, Heating, Ventilation, Airconditioning, Circulation (HVAC) certification and or experience
Skills, Knowledge:
- Must be team-oriented
- Self-motivation and flexibility in job assignments
- Blend of technical and interpersonal skills, and continuous learning through training.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and to lift overhead and push/pull, and move lighter objects.
- The ability to be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- Physical requirements: Hearing and speaking to exchange information, and communicate over hand-held radios; seeing to read, prepare, and understand cleaning labels/directions; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate maintenance equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store supplies; lifting objects; ability to go to sites apart from primary office to conduct business.
Pay: $26.00/hour.
