Title: Litigation Paralegal – Pasadena, CA
· Salary Range (Depending on Experience): 85K - 115K + healthcare benefits/401K
· Job Type: Part-Time to Full-Time Opportunity (Depending on Experience)
· Experience: 4+ years; prior big firm experience highly preferred.
A litigation paralegal provides essential support to attorneys by conducting legal research, drafting documents, helping manage legal files and assisting the legal secretary with various administrative processes. This role requires in-office attendance, keen attention to detail and knowledge of legal procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
· Legal Research: Conduct research on case law, statutes, regulations, and legal articles to assist attorneys in preparing cases.
· Document Preparation: Draft legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, subpoenas, and discovery requests. Ensure all documents are filed properly according to court requirements.
· Case Management: Organize and maintain client files, ensuring that all documents are easily accessible. Assist in managing case deadlines and schedules.
· Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather case details, follow up on requests, and provide status updates on cases (under attorney supervision).
· Court Assistance: Prepare case files for court hearings, including exhibits and evidence. Attend court hearings and trials to assist attorneys (depending on jurisdiction and type of case).
· Administrative Support: Maintain billing records associated with each case matter, file documentation, manage scheduling, and handle other administrative duties as necessary.
· Confidentiality: Maintain client confidentiality and comply with all legal and ethical standards.
Skills & Qualifications:
· Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, or completion of a paralegal certification program.
· Experience: Prior experience as a civil litigation paralegal 4+ years, though entry-level (2 years) candidates may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
· Skills:
o Strong research and writing abilities.
o Proficiency with legal research tools and software (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
o Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
o Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
o Knowledge of legal terminology and concepts.
o Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Responsibilities:
o Must have experience in assisting trial team from filing of complaint through end of the trial process
o Propound and respond to discovery; Precise document organization
o Draft various Memos, Motions, Oppositions and Replies
o Draft pleadings and other documents, such as declarations and exhibit lists
o Calendaring; Noticing Depositions and other Hearings
o Setting up Court Call and Appearance Attorneys
