Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified and caring Orthodontic Assistant to join our team! As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional orthodontic care and helping patients feel comfortable throughout their treatment. You will support the orthodontist during procedures, assist with adjusting and maintaining appliances, and handle essential clinical tasks. The ideal candidate holds the required California dental certifications and has orthodontic experience or a strong interest in the specialty. Schedule: Full time candidates must be able to do General Practice, Ortho is needed 2x per month.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years chairside assisting with Orthodontics
  • Valid California Dental Assistant (DA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license, depending on office requirements.
  • Current X-Ray Certification, Coronal Polishing, and Infection Control certificates (as required by California Dental Board).
  • Experience in orthodontics preferred but not always required; willingness to train is a plus.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment and follow strict safety and regulatory protocols.

Responsibilities


  • Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures, including placing and removing archwires, bands, and brackets as permitted by California Dental Board regulations.
  • Take digital impressions, intraoral scans, photographs, and X-rays (with required CA certifications).
  • Prepare and maintain operatories, sterilize instruments, and ensure infection-control compliance
  • Provide patient instructions for oral hygiene, appliance care, and post-treatment guidelines.
  • Manage appointment flow, update patient records, and assist with treatment coordination.
  • Monitor inventory and restock clinical supplies.
  • Support patients by creating a comfortable, professional, and efficient experience.
