Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute Family Birthing Center, requiring a current CA RN license and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in an acute Family Birthing Center with L&D, Mother/Baby, and LDRP services
- Unit includes 2 OBED beds, 7 LDRP beds, 4-8 overflow postpartum beds, and 1 OR for C-sections
- Approximately 70-80 births per month with antepartum testing
- Patient ratios: 1:2 in labor, 1:1 at delivery, and 1:4 for mother/baby couplets
- Neonatal stabilization available with NICU support (2 bed)
- Uses Cerner EMR and Fetalink EFM system
- 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend required
- First to float; floating required to other Sacramento facilities
- On-call or standby may be required with a 30-minute response time
- Scheduling is 4 weeks in advance
- Primary responsibilities include labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, antepartum care, and OR circulation for C-sections
- Nurses are expected to respond to emergencies and manage titratable drips as needed
- No CNAs on unit; 1 OB Tech scheduled per shift
- OB is in house 24/7; anesthesia available on call with in-house coverage during epidural use
- Respiratory therapy attends every delivery to provide support and manage respiratory equipment
- Holidays rotate with core staff
- Relias Dysrhythmia exam and skills testing on sterile technique are required during orientation
- Scrub color requirements are not specified

- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery or LDRP nursing experience
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Experience circulating in the OR is required for L&D-only candidates
- Must be comfortable with NRP at delivery and able to titrate pitocin and insulin drips
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred
- Must provide 2 recent supervisor or peer references (one within 12 months, one within 3 years)
- Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
- Candidates cannot have worked for CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity) within the past 12 months
