Robert Half Legal is recruiting a Trusts, Estates & Probate Paralegal for its well-regarded estate and tax planning law firm client in downtown San Francisco (close to BART/MUNI). The firm services the estates of many of the Bay Area's high net worth and ultra-high net worth families.
The following are the responsibilities of the Paralegal position:
- Help the attorneys draft, revise, and finalize trusts, wills, and other estate planning and real estate transaction documents (e.g., purchase & sale agreements);
- Perform online research (on LexisNexis) and County records research with the various Recorders Offices to gather information on asset transfers, prepare real estate conveyance documents and the transfer of stocks and bonds, partnership and corporate interests, and other assets;
- Handle filings with the Probate Courts per court procedures and manage those petitions through final distribution;
- Conduct business entity formation, filings, and maintenance; and
- Assist with court supervised trust & estate administrations, as well as accountings.
The following are the qualifications for the Paralegal position:
- 3++ years of paralegal experience doing estate planning work, and ideally has expertise in Probate Code, Probate Court proceedings, and Heggstad petitions;
- Paralegal Certificate, Attorney Attestation of Paralegal Work, or otherwise qualified under California Business & Professions Code §6450 et seq.;
- Software proficiency: MS Word for word processing, Excel (preferred), and Adobe;
- Notary Public commission is preferred, but can become active once hired; and
- Flexible work style, able to work independently and complete projects on time, comfortable working on rush assignments, and dedicated to providing high quality legal work product to law firm clientele.
This is an excellent direct-hire (perm) opportunity with a boutique wealth planning practice that has done very well. The office is very familial-like (good team of paralegals) and is a fairly laid-back atmosphere with very little need for overtime. The base salary range is $80,000-110,000+/yr, DOE, and the employment benefits package is competitive. • Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience in estate planning and preferred familiarity with Probate Court proceedings.
• Experience preparing federal gift and estate tax returns is a plus.
• Preferred expertise in trust accounting, probate, and estate administration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, LexisNexis, and ideally tax preparation software.
• Notary Public commission is desired.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results.
