Job DescriptionDirect Counsel is seeking an experienced and organized Litigation Legal Assistant to join a leading law firm’s Irvine office. About the Role
As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you’ll be an essential part of the litigation team — managing case details, drafting legal documents, maintaining schedules, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This role requires precision, initiative, and the ability to juggle competing priorities while maintaining professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities

Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.

File documents electronically in state and federal courts while ensuring compliance with procedural rules and filing deadlines.

Serve as a professional liaison between clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and vendors.

Manage attorney calendars — scheduling court appearances, depositions, client meetings, and case deadlines.

Prepare expense reports, handle billing documentation, and assist with case management.

Track and monitor deadlines, ensuring timely completion of all assigned tasks.

Perform ad hoc administrative duties as required to support the litigation team.
Qualifications & Skills

5+ years of litigation support experience, ideally supporting multiple attorneys in a mid-size or large law firm.

High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Experience with legal document management systems, such as iManage.

Familiarity with legal terminology, litigation procedures, and court protocols.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Work Environment & Benefits

Hybrid Schedule: Up to four remote workdays per month; remainder in-office at the firm’s Irvine office.

Compensation: $85,000 – $105,000 annually (commensurate with experience and performance).
