Our client is seeking a seasoned Aerospace/Defense Program Manager with 10-15 years of experience and a strong engineering background, particularly with experience in unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This role offers a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, agile company where you can leverage your extensive industry knowledge and leadership skills to drive impactful projects in an R&D environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Lead and oversee multiple projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, requirements, and quality standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize your understanding of engineering principles and drone technology to support and manage engineering project teams.
  • Government Contract Management: Manage all aspects of government contracts, including budgeting, scheduling, and compliance with regulatory requirements and deliverables.
  • Proposal Development: Support the business development team in the creation of proposals for government contracts, leveraging your technical expertise and industry knowledge to help craft compelling and competitive bids.
  • Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing team of project managers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Customer Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients in the public and private sector, understanding their needs and requirements, and ensuring that deliverables exceed expectations.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to maintain project momentum and minimize disruptions.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to develop long-term project roadmaps and business strategies aligned with company goals - developing and transitioning projects out of R&D and into production.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Aero/Mechanical/Electrical/Software, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 10-15 years of progressive experience in aerospace/defense, with a proven track record in project management and government contract management.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in UAS/drone technology, with hands-on experience in leading design, development, and testing.
  • Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Government Contract Expertise: Experience managing government contracts, understanding regulatory requirements, and ensuring all documentation and deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Why Join Us:

  • Impactful Work: Contribute to cutting-edge defense projects that have real-world applications and implications.
  • Career Growth: Opportunity to build and lead a team, shape project strategies, and grow as a leader within a supportive and innovative environment.
  • Company Culture: Enjoy the collaborative spirit of a smaller, nimble R&D organization where your ideas are valued, and your contributions make a direct impact.
  • Benefits: Competitive salary, Trinet healthcare benefits, 401k, and a flexible Open PTO policy to support work-life balance.

If you are a motivated Aerospace/Defense Program Manager with experience leading government contracts, managing all deliverables and documentation, and writing proposals for such contracts, and you are looking to transition to a smaller, more agile company where you can take on diverse roles and lead impactful projects in the defense technology space, we encourage you to apply.
