Job DescriptionAssociate Attorney – Labor & Employment
Location: Los Angeles (Century City)
Direct Counsel is seeking an associate attorney to join a national AmLaw law firm within its Labor & Employment Practice Group in Los Angeles. This role supports a sophisticated practice advising employers on a broad range of labor and employment matters, with a particular focus on California employment law.
The associate attorney will handle a full spectrum of labor and employment issues, including defense of claims before state and federal courts, union-management relations, reductions in force, employment contract negotiations, employee policies and benefits programs, and counseling human resources professionals and management on compliance and employee relations matters.
Qualifications:

3–4 years of labor and employment experience representing employers

Strong working knowledge of California and federal employment statutes and regulations

Experience defending employment-related claims in state and federal courts

Background advising on workforce issues, policies, and compliance matters

Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills

Active member of the California Bar in good standing

Strong academic credentials and immediate transferable skills

Hearing and deposition experience strongly preferred

Experience with labor and employment class actions and PAGA matters is a plus

Compensation:
In accordance with California pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this position is $260,000–$310,000, with final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
