Job Description
Purpose : Responsible for maintaining quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products; recording quality results.
Essential functions:
- Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
- Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor
- Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work
- Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database
- Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
- Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed
Minimum qualifications:
- Familiar with PME utilized in machined part inspection, Analyzing Information, Reporting Research Results, Documentation Skills, Promoting Process Improvement, Safety Management, Manufacturing
- Methods and Procedures, Supports Innovation
- Must have good English written and verbal communication skills
- Have good arithmetic skills
- Have mechanical aptitude
- Must have knowledge of precision measurement instruments
- Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Must be attention to details
- Ability to work in a team environment
Experience/Education:
- 2+ years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing/machine shop required
- ISO 9001-2008 and AS-9100 experience preferred
- CMM experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
Working conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to perform repetitive motions; to sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, hear and move around the facility
- Must have close visual acuity to perform daily duties such as: visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs if required
- Required to work on concrete floors, wearing steel toe shoes and safety goggles
- 4/10 scheduled. May work over-time if scheduled.
- Worker is subject to noise, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils
- May be required to wear a respirator
