General Scope of Responsibilities

  • Develop job opportunities for students enrolled in or completing a training program.
  • Establish contacts with new employers and employment agencies, survey social media,
  • employment sites and other resources to locate work opportunities for students.
  • Establish a relationship with Business/Industry sector to provide ongoing long-term job
  • Development/placement opportunities for our students.
  • Work with instructors and administrators to provide work readiness skill development workshops.
  • Communicate/Cooperate with prospective employers: determining their needs.
  • Train students in developing and implementing a job search plan.
  • Continuously communicate/coordinate with staff about job placement and portfolio development.
  • Instruct and train students in pre-employment skills and preparation.
  • Confer with prospective employers to determine support needed to meet employer requirements.
  • File and maintain employment records for future reference.
  • File and maintain records for job placement contacts made by students/instructors.
  • Teach students soft skills, prepare their resumes, and conduct mock interviews.
  • Assist students with the development of a resume and portfolio before program completion date.
  • Assist with graduation ceremonies and other student services functions as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Position generally requires a bachelor’s Degree with minimum 2 years’ experience as a Placement Specialist sustaining a designated level of performance.
  • Valid CA driver License and proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Knowledge in State and accrediting agencies guidelines highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing (public speaking is highly desirable).
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials (PP, Excel, Word).
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Knowledge of student placement and retention issues.
  • Knowledge of equal opportunity and affirmative action programs.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills are required to work with others from various disciplines.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
  • Other related jobs/tasks as requested by the administrator

IV. Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • At least 50% travel is required to perform the job duties
