Medical Director - San Leandro, CA
Compensation: $70,304 per year
Part-time, Salaried, 8 hours per week
Nexus HR is looking for a mission-driven Psychiatrist to serve as our Medical Director, providing clinical leadership and oversight while helping shape the future of community mental health care in San Leandro for a nonprofit mental health clinic dedicated to expanding access to high-quality psychiatric care for underserved and vulnerable communities in the East Bay.

About the Job
The Medical Director plays a critical leadership role in ensuring clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care across the clinic. This position is ideal for a psychiatrist who is deeply committed to serving those in need, values collaborative leadership, and wants to make a meaningful impact beyond individual patient encounters.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide clinical oversight and supervision of Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), and other mental health clinical staff

Lead the development, review, and approval of clinical protocols, policies, and procedures (P&Ps)

Oversee quality assurance activities, including clinical audits, risk management, and continuous quality improvement initiatives

Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, licensing requirements, and applicable standards of care

Chair and lead clinical meetings, case conferences, and training programs

Serve as a clinical leader and resource for staff, fostering a culture of ethical, patient-centered, and trauma-informed care

Work collaboratively and transparently with the Clinical Director, clinic leadership, and multidisciplinary staff

Qualifications:

MD or DO with board eligibility or board certification in Psychiatry

Active, unrestricted California medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start)

Experience working in outpatient psychiatry, community mental health, or nonprofit healthcare settings strongly preferred

Demonstrated leadership experience or strong interest in clinical leadership and mentorship

Commitment to serving underserved populations with empathy, cultural humility, and professionalism
