Job Description

Job DescriptionRole Overview

We’re looking for a once-in-a-generation YouTube obsessive—someone who doesn’t just read analytics, but feels YouTube in their bones.

You understand the platform before the data confirms it. You know why a video is about to pop before CTR spikes. You can smell a dead-on-arrival idea from a mile away. You know what audiences want—even when they don’t yet.

If you talk about thumbnails the way other people talk about art, and you casually reference “retention cliffs” at dinner, this might be your calling.

What You’ll Do

Own YouTube strategy end-to-end

  • From ideation to upload to post-mortem, you are accountable for growth, velocity, and sustained audience obsession.

Identify winning ideas before the algorithm does

  • You’ll spot emerging topics, formats, and narratives early—before they become obvious or overcrowded.

Decode audience psychology

  • You deeply understand what makes people click, watch, comment, share, and come back tomorrow.

Engineer viral potential

  • Titles, thumbnails, hooks, pacing, payoff—you know how each piece contributes to performance and how to pressure-test ideas before production.

Master YouTube analytics (but never worship them blindly)

  • You live inside retention graphs, CTR, impressions, AVD, velocity curves, cohort behavior—but you also know when to ignore the data and trust instinct.

Continuously experiment and iterate

  • You run structured tests across formats, lengths, packaging, and storytelling styles, then turn learnings into repeatable wins.

Stay frighteningly current

  • You are always aware of what’s working right now on YouTube—across niches, not just our own.

What You Believe

  • The algorithm doesn’t “decide” success—the audience does
  • Packaging is as important as the video itself
  • Retention beats everything (yes, everything)
  • Most videos fail in the first 10 seconds—and you know why
  • Trends are useful, but timeless human psychology is undefeated

Who You Are

  • Pathologically obsessed with YouTube
  • You don’t “use” YouTube—you study it. For fun.
  • Pattern-recognition machine
  • You instinctively connect dots between content, audience behavior, and performance outcomes.
  • Creative + analytical
  • You can ideate bold concepts and back them up with data-driven reasoning.
  • Opinionated, but adaptable
  • You have strong points of view—and you’re willing to change them when reality proves you wrong.
  • Comfortable being early
  • You’re okay looking crazy today to be right tomorrow.

  • Proven ability to identify and scale high-performing content ideas
  • Strong understanding of titles, thumbnails, hooks, and narrative structure

Preferred

  • You have strong opinions about thumbnail text length
  • You pause videos to study their hook
  • You’ve said the phrase “this would’ve worked in 2018” unironically
  • You’ve reverse-engineered viral videos just to see why they worked
