Job Title: Long Term Care Pharmacist
Pay: $64.27 an hr | Bi-weekly
Job Type: Onsite in San Diego, CA
Shift Options
- M-F, 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm (Full Time)
Long Term Care Pharmacist Overview:
- • Accept and dispense prescription medications.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns.
• Ensure that the supply of medicines is within the law.
• Verify the suitability of prescribed medicines.
• Accurately maintain confidential records of all patients.
• Ensure proper management of patient records and pharmacy files.
• Advise patients about medicines, including how to take them, potential reactions, and answer questions.
• Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications regarding storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
• Offer services to patients, such as smoking cessation, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on proper handling of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications for external or internal use.
• Prepare sterile solutions following proper procedures.
• Supervise pharmacy staff members including pharmacy technicians and pharmacy clerks.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
• Identify patients' drug-related problems and communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare practitioners.
• Work in conjunction with physicians, nurses, other pharmacists, and pharmacy interns.
Long Term Care Pharmacist Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
• Licensed by the state pharmacy board.
