Position Summary

The Production Supervisor oversees all production activities during the assigned shift to ensure safety, quality, throughput, and delivery goals are met. This role fosters teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment while supporting continuous improvement.

Scope

A hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising production personnel, coordinating shift operations, and ensuring compliance with SOMACIS policies, safety programs, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Facilitation

• Allocate shift resources to meet production, quality, and cost objectives.
• Communicate resource needs and shift updates to the Plant Manager.
• Actively participate in production meetings and encourage cross-area collaboration.
• Promote teamwork, open communication, and employee engagement.
• Provide performance feedback and professional input to management.

Compliance & Safety

• Enforce SOMACIS Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, including OSHA and SB 198.
• Maintain a safe workplace by identifying hazards, investigating incidents, and ensuring proper reporting.
• Support chemical handling, emergency response, and adherence to IIPP and HazCom requirements.
• Uphold all SOMACIS policies and procedures.

Operations & Continuous Improvement

• Review production reports to identify and resolve issues affecting quality, throughput, or delivery.
• Support preventive maintenance planning to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Production Control to ensure accurate production data and workflow.
• Execute Production Control priorities for the shift, ensuring alignment with schedule, delivery requirements, and coordinated handoff with Day Shift Supervisors.
• Drive daily cross-functional communication with Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality to support workflow, resolve issues, and maintain strong shift-to-shift continuity.
• Partner with Engineering and Management to improve processes, equipment, and material efficiency.
• Facilitate effective communication across all shifts to ensure operational continuity.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective action activities.

Supervision & Training

• Supervise Production Technicians and Leads on the assigned shift.
• Communicate performance expectations and ensure adherence to standards.
• Support employee training, certification, and readiness for assigned tasks.
• Provide input for evaluations and collaborate with Department Managers.
• Promote engagement, attendance, accountability, and performance improvement.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or technical coursework preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of PCB manufacturing or similar industry experience.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of PCB processes and manufacturing flow.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; ERP system experience preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of TQM, SPC, or Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work is performed in both office and manufacturing settings with moderate noise and occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles. Extended hours may be required to support multiple shifts. The role requires frequent standing or walking and occasional lifting of 25–50 pounds. Vision must support close and distance work, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
