Position Title: Nurse Practitioner
Department: Primary Care
Reports To: Medical Director
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides medical services to all patients as directed by the Medical Director. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the continuity of healthcare regardless of the presence/absence of disease. CCR 1480 (b).
Tuesday - Saturday
Tuesday and Thursday 10:30am - 7:00pm
Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 8am - 4:30pm

CATEGORIES OF DUTIES
1. Performs physical examinations, employing a combination of nursing and medical functions approved by standardized procedures.
2. Diagnoses, treats, and prescribes medications under the supervision of the Medical Director and in accordance to Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice.
3. Orders lab and diagnostic work in compliance with the Medical Director’s written protocol for the treatment of specific illnesses or diseases.
4. Performs minor lacerations, as ordered and supervised by the Medical Director, according to his/her protocol.
5. Provides patients and their families with comfort and education/information about their medical care as needed.
6. Review laboratory values and diagnostic tests in a manner appropriate to the standard of care.
7. In case of a patient emergency, administer all appropriate care and insure appropriate transfer of care to appropriate level of care via emergency medical system.
8. Discharge patients from the clinic with appropriate instructions and follow up care.
9. Identify possible infections, report, and document as appropriate; initiate standard precautions if needed.
10. Administers waived tests (urine pregnancy test, blood glucose test, breath alcohol test, UA drug screen, hemoglobin [HbA1c], COVID-19 and flu A+B tests, and fentanyl urine screen) and maintains annual waived testing requirements/trainings as required.
11. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
• An active California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• An active California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
• A Furnishing Number approved by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing, with advanced pharmacology courses and training.
• A DEA Number issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration
• A National Provider Identification number (NPI)
• An active CPR certification
• One (1) consecutive year working in a medical and/or psychiatric facility with experience in family care and/or internal medicine.
