Equipment Maintenance Technician III
3-month contract with potential to extend or convert
Pay Rate: $32-38/hour DOE
Location: San Jose, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM PST
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Equipment Technician to support operations in a clean-room environment.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electro-mechanical proficiency, hands-on experience assembling tooling and testers, and a proven track record of reliability and longevity in previous roles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform complex troubleshooting and root-cause analysis on down equipment efficiently and accurately.
- Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment.
- Recommend and implement solutions for recurring problems or equipment deficiencies.
- Complete preventative maintenance activities in accordance with PM specifications and safety procedures.
- Thoroughly and accurately document corrective actions, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Support assignments ranging from routine to highly complex, requiring sound judgment and analytical skills.
- Assist with production tasks when needed.
- Maintain continuous skill development through formal training and hands-on problem solving.
- Clean-room experience is highly preferred.
- Candidates should demonstrate consistent work history and reliability.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electro-mechanical, hardware, and software within a development technician environment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Ability to interpret operating, safety, and maintenance documents
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Technical understanding of Hard Disk Drives and their components
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal abilities to build trust and rapport at all organizational levels
- Self-motivated, able to manage multiple tasks, and comfortable working collaboratively in a team environment
Additional Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum AA degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- OR Certificate from a vocational or trade school in computer technology, computer hardware/software maintenance, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 6+ years of recent experience supporting and repairing assembly or test equipment
- Advanced skills in Microsoft OS, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Good manual dexterity for assembling, adjusting, or repairing fine mechanical or electronic parts and using basic hand tools
Preferred:
- Previous experience with Hard Disk Drive clean-room tooling and test equipment
- Electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting experience, with emphasis on software log analysis
