Job Description
This position is responsible for assisting in the set-up and operation of CNC Mill(s) and non-automated machinery. The Apprentice will also support the quality assurance departments with first articles inspections.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklift, jib crane, and understand basic rigging.
- Understand oils and coolants necessary for machine operation.
- Organize parts for processing.
- Clean machined parts through deburring.
- Recognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
- Assist in organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment.
- Provide feedback and input for process improvement within the department.
- Utilize and abide by safety requirements and procedures.
- Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
- Communicate thoughts and ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management.
Essential Skills
- Basic knowledge and operation of a 5-axis CNC machine.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools (impact wrench, grinding tools, etc.).
- Proficiency with metric measuring instruments (calipers, dial indicators, touch probes, etc.).
- Knowledge of machining fabrication processes.
- Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
- Experience with forklifts and overhead cranes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, team interface, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $33.00/hr.
