About the role: PMAT has an immediate need and is seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Administrator to support software integration, system maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting on-site in China Lake, CA. The System Administrator will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deploy software builds and patches, document and apply network configurations, support test events, collect and communicate user feedback, and ensure the systems successful operation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on deployment of Navy C4ISR, combat systems, or mission-critical software solutions in a classified lab environment.
- Assist with hardware and software installation, updates, and configuration adapting planned procedures to fit the mission and environment with support from the development team.
- Execute test procedures and support verification and validation (V&V) activities, recording and reporting test results.
- Identify, analyze, track, and create detailed records of problems that appear during testing and deployments, such as software defects, bugs, functionality issues, and output errors.
- Assist with development, configuration, and usage of test scripts to simulate various interfaces, collect and analyze test data.
- Perform on-site root cause analysis to properly report and work toward resolving any undesired or broken system behaviors.
- Follow configuration management practices for tracking system baselines and hardware/software revisions.
- Create and deliver Test reports to Project Manager(s) and customer(s).
- Collaborate with systems engineers, test teams, and program managers to support successful system integration milestones.
- Serve as a product expert translating technical background into end user impact regarding various operational, configurational, or design decisions.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong Linux System Administration skills (RHEL 7 or higher or equivalent)
- Strong IP-based network configuration skills as needed for secure server access
- Strong Virtualization experience (VMWare, KVM, Docker...)
- Ability to interpret technical documentation such as interface control documents (ICDs), schematics, and test plans.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- 47 years of experience integrating complex systems in a lab or shipboard environment (Navy experience strongly preferred).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with Naval communications hardware configuration and operation is highly desirable
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Current Security+
Citizenship and Clearance requirements:
- US Citizenship, no dual citizenship with another country, an active Secret DOD security clearance, ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with Counter-Intelligence Polygraph
Location:
- Customer site, NSWC WD China Lake, CA. Remote work is secondary and must be approved by management.
Travel:
- Under 10%
Work Environment: PMAT offices as needed. In some cases, work in a government facility may be required. Travel may be required for customer engagement, team coordination, and potentially for business development.
