Electronic Engineer
Job Description
Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electronic Circuit Design and Test Engineer to join our hardware engineering team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in the design, development, and validation of complex electronic systems, with a strong focus on Microchip microcontrollers and Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). This role is critical to supporting new product innovation and enhancing the performance and reliability of existing hardware platforms.
Key Responsibilities
-
Design, prototype, and test analog and digital circuits for embedded systems, including high-speed interfaces and mixed-signal components.
-
Select, integrate, and program Microchip microcontrollers (PIC, dsPIC, SAM families) into electronic system designs.
-
Design and implement custom logic solutions using FPGAs (Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Lattice), including HDL development (VHDL/Verilog) and simulation.
-
Conduct detailed design validation, signal integrity analysis, and hardware debugging using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
-
Develop and execute test plans, verification procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry and customer specifications.
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (firmware, mechanical, systems, manufacturing) throughout the product lifecycle.
-
Participate in schematic capture, PCB layout reviews, and ensure design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) principles are applied.
-
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best practices.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
-
8+ years of hands-on experience in electronic circuit design and hardware validation.
-
Deep technical proficiency with Microchip microcontrollers and associated development environments (MPLAB X, Harmony, etc.).
-
Extensive experience designing and implementing solutions with FPGAs, including HDL coding and simulation workflows.
-
Proficient with circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTspice, PSpice) and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad).
-
Strong understanding of power supply design, EMI/EMC considerations, and regulatory compliance (FCC, CE).
-
Proven ability to bring products from concept through production.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with high-speed digital design and protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB, Ethernet, and PCIe.
-
Familiarity with Python or MATLAB for test automation and data analysis.
-
Exposure to safety-critical or industrial systems (e.g., automotive, aerospace, medical) is a plus.
-
Knowledge of firmware development and low-level driver integration is a strong asset.
