Position Overview
We are seeking a Legal Counsel (Property Investment) to oversee and advise on real estate investment transactions, portfolio structuring, and compliance matters in the United States. The role requires deep knowledge of federal and state real estate regulations, investment law, and risk management in property deals.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate purchase, sale, lease, financing, and joint venture agreements.
- Conduct due diligence on property acquisitions, including zoning, land use, environmental, and title checks.
- Advise on compliance with US federal and state property regulations, including SEC/REIT compliance (where applicable).
- Provide legal support on cross-border property transactions and investment structuring.
- Collaborate with investment, finance, and operations teams to align legal considerations with business strategies.
- Manage disputes, regulatory filings, and external counsel as needed.
- Monitor evolving property and investment laws across key US states.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admitted to practice in at least one US state bar (e.g., New York, California, Delaware preferred).
- Minimum 3–8 years of post-qualification experience in real estate, property finance, or corporate investment law.
- Experience with real estate developers, REITs, or investment funds is highly advantageous.
- Strong negotiation, drafting, and risk assessment skills.
- Ability to support both domestic and cross-border transactions.
