This role will support system performance, capacity upgrades, and network reliability — including hands-on execution of node splits to improve bandwidth, reduce congestion, and enhance customer experience.
Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, test, and maintain telecommunications systems including VoIP, PBX, fiber optics, RF, and HFC networks
-
Perform node splits by redesigning service group boundaries, reconfiguring amplifiers, deploying additional fiber runs, and balancing RF levels to increase network capacity

Analyze utilization data and signal performance to determine when node segmentation is required
-
Install and activate new optical nodes, transmitters, receivers, and related equipment
-
Splice, test, and certify fiber using OTDR and power meters
-
Perform structured cabling installations (Cat5e/Cat6, coax, and fiber)
-
Troubleshoot network outages, ingress, noise, signal loss, and service degradation
-
Perform preventative maintenance and system upgrades
-
Read and interpret system maps, RF prints, schematics, and construction drawings
-
Document network changes, plant modifications, and service activations
-
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company standards
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical training preferred
-
3+ years of experience in telecommunications, HFC plant, fiber networks, or outside plant construction
-
Strong understanding of RF theory, DOCSIS networks, optical transport, and node architecture
-
Experience performing node splits, plant segmentation, or service group re-engineering
-
Ability to troubleshoot signal impairments and balance RF systems
-
Comfortable working in aerial, underground, and confined-space environments
-
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
