Job DescriptionSalary: $23.00 - $45.00 Per Hour

The Douglas Family Early Childhood Center of Sinai Akiba Academy, a Sinai Temple school, is looking for experienced, dedicated early childhood educators to join our full-time teaching team. This involves working with a supportive and talented team of diverse teachers in a fun, warm, creative and nurturing environment for children ages 18 months to 5 years old. DFECC teachers work with a classroom teaching team to facilitate learning experiences aligned with the school's mission and values.


Sinai Akiba Academy is a preeminent private Jewish day school in Los Angeles, serving students in Early Childhood through Grade 8. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and maintain a safe, stimulating, and nurturing classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Practice supportive and nurturing classroom teaching and innovative lesson planning in line with Sinai Akibas educational philosophy and core values.
  • Communicate effectively and thoughtfully with students, parents, and colleagues regarding classroom updates, student progress and any other pertinent school information.
  • Prepare daily instructional materials and lesson plans.
  • Learn, use, and apply technology as required by School to enhance learning, provide feedback to students and parents, and engage with colleagues. Technology includes but is not limited to Jagnet, Google Workspace, Paylocity, and any other School approved software.
  • Organize Jewish and secular holiday programs and other co-curricular events (as directed by the ECC Director and/or Head of School or designee).
  • Attend activities outside of normal classroom hours or regularly scheduled workdays, such as: parent-teacher conferences; parent education evenings; faculty meetings and Sinai Akiba Parent Association or Parenting Center events.
  • Be present for full-day hours (even if Teacher is a part-time employee, or if outside Teacher's regularly scheduled workdays) for events including, but not limited to, parent-teacher conferences; Employee in-service or Professional Development Days; and school-wide community events (as directed by the ECC Director and/or Head of School or designee).
  • Responsibly supervise ECC students as directed by the ECC Director, and/or Head of School, or designee.
  • Follow licensing protocols as directed by ECC Director and/or Head of School or designee.
  • Engage in and support other assignments and duties as directed by supervisor, and/or Head of School or designee.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and move objects of up to 30 pounds.
  • Substantial time spent standing, kneeling, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and moving up and down stairs. Responsibilities include moving quickly with children. The position also requires being able to set up and move classroom equipment, including large items such as children's desks and chairs may require setting and resetting.


REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of 12-semester units in Child Development/ECE, including core courses of Child Growth & Development, Child, Family & Community, and Curriculum
  • Availability to work in person, part-time, full or partial days as-needed between the hours of 7:45am - 3:30pm
  • Support the DFECC/Sinai Akiba mission/vision and commit to helping move DFECC towards that vision
  • Must understand how to facilitate play-based learning and support childrens healthy social and emotional development
  • Must support an attitude that every child has the ability and opportunity to succeed in all areas
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must pass DOJ/FBI background check
  • Must complete California Mandated Reporter Training within 90 days of start date (renewed every 2 years)


PREFERRED:

  • AA (or higher) degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education
  • Experience in an early childhood education classroom setting
  • Knowledge of Jewish customs, rituals, holidays, etc., or openness to learning about them
  • Up-to-date pediatric CPR and first aid certification


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Hourly Rate Range: $23.00 $45.00

In the spirit of pay transparency we share the hourly rate range for this position: $23.00 - $45.00. The hourly rate range is exclusive of fringe benefits, retirement plan employer contributions or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Pay ranges at SAA are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at SAA, your final hourly rate will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status and number of months of work per academic year. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full hourly rate range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical for SAA in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
