Established (50+ years) Premier Education Law Firm Seeking Construction Attorney for Public Entity Practice in California

An established California education law firm with over 50 years in practice is seeking a Construction Attorney with 5+ years of experience to join its Business, Property and Construction Law practice. This hybrid role supports school districts and community college districts statewide and may be based in San Francisco, Long Beach, San Diego, Sacramento, East Bay, or Fresno.

This firm is mission-driven and deeply committed to serving as a steward of public funds, producing high-level work product for education clients. Attorneys benefit from long-standing client relationships, a non-hierarchical culture, and a collaborative environment where people stay long term. The firm operates on a 1850 billable requirement and prioritizes work-life balance while continuing to experience steady growth.

Offer:

Salary range: $140,000-$185,000 depending on experience

1850 annual billable requirement

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction and public contract matters

Experience with public procurement, bid packages, and contract negotiation

Familiarity with construction disputes including bid protests, change orders, payment disputes, delay claims, and bond issues

Strong analytical, writing, research, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple matters with accuracy and attention to detail

Public entity experience preferred but not required

Litigation experience or willingness to assist with litigation matters is a plus

Active California Bar admission in good standing

Responsibilities:

Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts and procurement documents

Advising public entity clients on construction disputes and compliance issues

Supporting clients through bid protests, claims, and project delivery challenges

Collaborating with attorneys across practice groups to serve education clients
