What You Will Do & What You Will Bring

As an Associate Principal Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the design of complex electro-mechanical systems, focusing on system architecture for breakthrough diagnostic products.
  • Consult with clients to capture key requirements, constraints, and engineering criteria, then architect system designs that deliver breakthrough products while meeting business, technical, and regulatory goals.
  • Direct cross-functional engineering teams, ensuring designs are robust, compliant, and delivered on time and on budget.
  • Mentor engineers, fostering technical excellence, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to ensure quality, manufacturability, and successful transfer of products to manufacture.
  • Drive design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA), configuration management, and production-readiness across medium- and high-volume product lines.
  • Manage build activities within staged development programs and offer cross-project guidance for consumer, industrial, diagnostic, and life sciences products.
  • Champion compliance with quality, regulatory, and safety standards while promoting best practices and continuous improvement.


In addition, we require the following skills and experience:

  • Accredited Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent (Master’s or PhD highly regarded)
  • 8+ years industrial experience in product development ideally in medical diagnostic instrument and device development or similarly complex electro-mechanical products
  • Demonstrated expertise in design transfer and manufacturing establishment
  • Familiarity with working to ISO13845 or ISO 9001
  • Exceptional problem-solving, leadership, and project management capabilities
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams
  • In-depth technical and engineering knowledge on designing mechanical systems in areas such as optical, thermal, fluidics, robotics devices
  • Strong knowledge in materials across metals, plastics, composites, and related manufacturing processes

Pay Range

The salary range for this position is USD $130,000 - USD $150,000
