POSITION: Surveillance Operator I CATEGORY: Full-time; Non-exempt
SUPERVISOR: Surveillance Manager Revised: 12/15/2025
Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Surveillance Manager, it is the responsibility of the Surveillance Operator I to constantly observe all areas of the casino and report any activity and/or incidents that concern the welfare of the casino operation. The Surveillance Operator I position also provides adequate coverage to reasonably assure the protection of tribal assets, and assist in the safety and security of guests, employees, and their property.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Surveillance Operator I job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Observe the actions of all Gaming areas and devices, Vault, Cage, Gaming floor, Slots, Food and Beverage and other assigned areas.
- Observe performance of employees, with regards to customer relations and adherence to their standard procedure manual.
- Maintain a written account of any activity that is unusual or not according to the Standard Procedure Manual.
- Be familiar with the current list of undesirables maintained by the Security department. Be alert to any undesirables or cheaters in the casino and report their presence to your immediate Supervisor.
- Report any accident, illness or safety hazard observed to the appropriate department Director with prior notification to Surveillance Management.
- Safeguard all confidential information. Do not discuss any department activities with other employees.
- Strive to gain a complete knowledge of all procedures and policies.
- Familiarize self with methods of cheating.
- Conduct self in a manner that reflects as a credit to the Gaming Commission and encourage others to do the same.
- Never compromise this position of trust in any way or manner.
- Understand and operate CCTV equipment.
- Maintain anonymity of self and others in Surveillance department.
- Able to abide by a strict No Fraternization policy.
- Conduct video reviews and communicate what was observed in written and verbal form.
- Write detailed and accurate reports on incidents as outlined in the Surveillance Policy Manual.
- Observation/documentation of the breaking of machine seals
- Other duties as assigned.

- 21 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Submit to and pass a strict background investigation, including but not limited to, previous employment, education, driving record, and financial history.
- Submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check prior to employment.
- Valid CA drivers license.
- Experience in Surveillance, Law Enforcement, Security, or similar work environment preferred.
- Able and willing to work evenings/weekends/holidays as scheduled and adhere to a strict set work schedule.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn and adhere to Casino policies and procedures.
- Ability to be trained and pass written tests regarding job related duties.
- Possess good organizational skills keep workstation and workplace in good working order.
- Perform office, computer and writing skills including typing, emails, composing memos, filing, word processing, incident report writing and copying when needed.
- Ability to verbally communicate professionally and effectively in person, by phone and over radio.
- Provide excellent customer service and practice positive, tactful, and confidential interactions with staff and customers.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proactively and professionally deal with stressful situations; respond to emergency situations, as needed.
- Ability to work independently and support a team environment.
- Make best judgment decisions based on Surveillance policy.
- Ability to perform in a diverse workplace with a variety of people from different backgrounds.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally divided between an office setting and group gatherings with a moderate noise level. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Travel may be required.
