Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Installs, maintains, operates, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical equipment at Company facilities operating on single and 3-phase electrical platforms up to 600V.
Performs the startup, verification and ongoing operational support of typical industrial electrical equipment operating in a water utility environment.
• Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial control system equipment, SCADA system equipment and related hardware. Performs startup and verification activities to verify proper equipment operation.
• Installs and maintains various instrumentation devices
• Performs maintenance activities on electro-mechanical equipment and ancillary equipment such as valve actuators (pneumatic and electric), compressed air systems and other support systems associated with water supply and treatment facilities.
• Participates in the engineering, design and construction of electrical facilities associated with Capital Improvement Projects.
• Reviews electrical designs, prepares and reports on electrical project status, completes asbuilts and participates in pre-construction meetings.
• Ensures compliance of company facilities and equipment with applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) and other regulatory requirements and Company standards and specifications.
• Participates in scheduled safety meetings, training and other seminars.
• Oversees and maintains electrical project status data for cost control and progress reports.
• Available for emergency response, 24 hours/day, seven days/week.
• Duties may include conduit bending, wire pulling and hand digging.
• Works under general supervision. Travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid California Driver’s license required.
• Completion of a four-year Electrical Apprentice Program or equivalent preferred. • Three years of experience required in the installation, maintenance and operation of industrial electrical systems operating on single phase and 3-phase electrical systems up to 600 volts.
• Knowledge of SCADA equipment and industrial control systems and instrumentation utilized in a water utility environment.
• Proficient in performing electrical calculations such as, but not limited to load calculations, wire sizing and breaker sizing calculations.
• Journeyman Understanding of ladder logic control and circuit configuration.
• Proficient in computer applications such as, but not limited to spreadsheet and word processing applications.
• Knowledge of Wonderware software products preferred.
• Knowledge of PLC operation, including Modicon and Schneider products.
• May include but not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, sitting, typing, walking, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening for extended periods of time
